Last year, Hubbard County’s Complete Count Committee spent many hours helping with the U.S. Census. The effort will affect everything from how much funding Hubbard County and local school districts receive from state and federal programs to how congressional, state legislature and county commissioner districts are drawn.

Antonio Franklin, economic development planner for Headwaters Regional Development Commission, will be the guest speaker. He will discuss the outcome of the 2020 Census and dive into the redistricting process and timeline. With mandatory redrawing of political districts affecting all citizens, Franklin will share what residents can do to encourage a more transparent process.

Franklin’s work primarily focuses on regional economic recovery and resiliency. He also supports economic development projects for communities and non-profits in the region. He recently administered $3.1 million in COVID-19 business relief grants to small businesses in the region. He has worked with the Thief River Falls Chamber of Commerce, the Lac Qui Parle County Economic Development Authority, the Pennington County Census Committee and the BI-CAP board, representing Beltrami County.
